TRU World Relief Fund 50/50 Rules of Play

  1. TICKET INFORMATION:

Ticket orders will be available for purchase over the internet. We will also be able to process orders on a purchaser’s behalf at the offices of the Thompson Rivers University Foundation.  The Purchaser will receive, by email, a confirmation of the order with their ticket number(s) and tickets(s) attached and available for download and to print. 

A total of 2000 tickets are available, with 2000 tickets for $10.00 each .

The winner of the 50/50 draw will receive half of the proceeds.

Tickets may be sold and purchased only in British Columbia.

  1. ELIGIBILITY

The following people are not permitted to purchase tickets in this lottery: board members and members(s), employees or volunteers of Thompson Rivers University Foundation who are directly involved in the administration of the raffle and their immediate family or employees of Darelle Media Inc. Immediate family includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren.

A non-resident of British Columbia (“Non-Resident”) may purchase a ticket only if the entire payment transaction takes place while the person is physically in British Columbia and if the ticket or a receipt is issued at that time. Tickets or receipts will not be distributed to, emailed, mailed or otherwise sent to a Non-Resident’s third-party address in B.C. A non-resident winner of a prize is responsible for all costs associated with delivery of prize to the location the winner specifies, that is outside the province of British Columbia.

When a resident of British Columbia is outside the province of British Columbia, they may not place an order to purchase tickets. This restriction includes all methods of ordering tickets.

Ticket Purchaser must be 19 years of age or older. If a winning ticket bears a minor’s name, the prize will be lawfully delivered to the minor’s parents, legal guardian or trustee. Know your limit, play with in it. Problem Gambling Help Line 1-888-795-6111 www.bcresponsiblegambling.ca  

Non-Residents of British Columbia may not order tickets by telephone, fax or mail.

  1. CHANCES OF WINNING:

50/50 Ticket

The odds of winning are 1 in 2000 to win the grand prize. Actual odds are dependent on the number of tickets sold.

  1. TAX INFORMATION:

Prizes are awarded tax free in Canada. The price of tickets is not deductible as a charitable donation for tax purposes in Canada.

  1. PERTINENT DRAW DATES:

Cut-off times for ticket sales are at Nov 28, 2023 17:00. The final draw for all prizes will be held at Nov 30, 2023 12:00. The draw will take place at Thompson Rivers University Foundation located at 805 TRU Way in Kamloops. Only tickets that have been paid for and/or verified as paid are eligible to be entered in the draw.

It is not required to be present at the draw to claim the prize.

  1. CASH EQUIVALENTS AND PRIZE DETAILS:

There is one prize available to be won. The winner will receive 50% of total ticket sales on the raffle.

Prizes must be accepted as awarded and must be claimed within one (1) year of the draw date. No substitutions are permitted by winner.

Winners of a prize will be required to sign a “Receipt of Prize” and consent to the release of their names by the Licensee.

  1. ONLINE TICKET SALES

Thompson Rivers University Foundation has contracted the services of Darelle Media Inc. (darelle.com) to sell Lottery tickets through the Internet by way of a real-time processing and payment system and where the purchaser’s ticket is paid for immediately online. The transaction and payment processing system used for processing online ticket sales is Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council compliant.

Lottery tickets will be sent to the purchaser by email or through the Internet where the Purchaser will download and print a copy of the ticket.

In addition:

Non-residents of British Columbia cannot purchase tickets by phone, fax or mail.

  1. OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION:

50/50 Ticket

The winning ticket will be selected using a random number generator.

The winner will be published on darelle.com.  A list of winners will be emailed to every ticket purchaser and be available at http://tru.ca/giving.

If a credit card payment is charged back, you will be contacted by the Payment Processor, the Thompson Rivers University Foundation, and/or Darelle Media Inc. and given opportunity to provide replacement payment according to the terms and conditions of the Payment Processor and or Darelle Media Inc.  Any tickets issued will be considered invalid until replacement payment is received.

The records of Thompson Rivers University Foundation shall be deemed correct if there is a discrepancy in numbers.

All sales are final once the ticket number is assigned, and all sales are subject to credit approval. The Licensee reserves discretionary right not to accept entries.

The Purchaser is responsible for proof-of-ownership of shared tickets.

The liability of the Thompson Rivers University Foundation is limited to the ticket price paid.

The winner will be notified directly by email, phone and/or mail by the Thompson Rivers University Foundation as to the prize they have won and how to claim.

There is no cost to the winner for the delivery of the prize.

The winner consents to the release of their name by the Licensee. The list of winners will be published on the Thompson Rivers University Foundation located at http://tru.ca/giving and at darelle.com

If there is a discrepancy, the list and rules located at darelle.com  shall be deemed correct.

We respect your privacy. The Thompson Rivers University Foundation protects personal information and adheres to all legislative requirements with respect to privacy. We do not rent, sell, or trade our mailing lists. Information provided through ticket purchase will be used to deliver services and keep you informed on activities of the Thompson Rivers University Foundation including programs, services, special-events, funding needs, opportunities to volunteer or give and more, through periodic contacts.

  1. DELAYS:

Should the draw be delayed, it will be held as soon as possible after the scheduled draw time at Nov 30, 2023 12:00. If the delay is large enough that it prevents the draw from occurring at Nov 30, 2023 12:00, as scheduled, the following will be done.

1. A new draw date will be scheduled for as soon as reasonably possible.

2. The delay and the new draw date will be posted at the top of this webpage.

3. The delay and new draw date will be communicated by email to raffle ticket purchasers.
