The St. George’s School Fair on May 5th is an annual school event of which the raffle is a big component. Coordinated by the St. George’s Parents Association, it takes the dedication of over 1,000 parent, staff, and student volunteers to implement this community celebration. The goal of the Fair is twofold: to engage the St. George’s community in volunteerism and community spirit and to raise money for the school that goes directly to enriching the boys’ experience at St. George’s. The funds from past Fairs have been used to purchase science, art, music, athletic equipment, a school bus, classroom renovations, an outdoor classroom and recycling initiatives. Taking the Fair raffle online will help move toward the goal of the event being 100 per cent sustainable. The goods not sold or recycled at the end of the Fair are also donated out to many charities.
